Parkersburg, WV The Greater Parkersburg Convention & Visitors Bureau is already prepping for the arrival of visitors to the region in 2008 with the announcement that its largest and most comprehensive visitors guide has recently been published.
The 68-page full-color digest size book (5.5 x 8.5) is packed with key information regarding Greater Parkersburg, West Virginia and surrounding communities. The free guide features eight additional pages this year with new and updated listings of area attractions, accommodations, unique shops, special events, and restaurants. In addition, the innovative guide includes full-color maps of the area and expanded introduction sections focusing on history & heritage, unique shopping, outdoor recreation, and arts & cultural venues. Helpful information regarding average temperature and mileage from major cities throughout the east coast, mid-west, and southern states, are also displayed.
Sixty thousand copies were printed and are being used in:
Direct mail campaigns to selected 2007 inquiries
Fulfillment of 2008 individual inquiries
Supplying the WV Welcome Centers and other outlets
Trade, travel shows and stocking local racks
Supplying conferences and other groups meeting in the area
The guide serves as an excellent reference point for travelers as they plan their visit to this region, Nicely said. It is a beautiful representation of what we have to offer a day tripper, weekend traveler, or an extended stay visitor. There is something for everyone and portrays the wonderful array of activities and sites we have to offer for enjoyment, relaxation, or rejuvenation in 2008.
The visitors guide is the primary piece used by the Greater Parkersburg Convention & Visitors Bureau to fulfill information requests from their 800 number and web site, bulk requests, direct mailings and reader responses to advertisements. It is also the only local visitors guide distributed through the West Virginia Welcome Center in Williamstown.
In addition, the CVB also produced 50,000 copies of a full-color lure brochure created to mirror the new visitors guide. The piece will be distributed as part of trade and travel show packets, to visiting groups, and other venues throughout the year.
Nicely noted that the guide and lure brochure were produced locally. For a fourth year, Stonewall Marketing of Marietta, Ohio designed the publication, with the guide being printed in Chapman Printing's Parkersburg, W.Va. facility.
The Greater Parkersburg Convention and Visitors Bureau was organized in 1985 and is an independent, nonprofit corporation dedicated to strengthening the area's economy by marketing Greater Parkersburg as a destination for leisure travel, group tours, meetings and conventions. The Bureau is devoted to providing appropriate services for visitors and its partners.
