Have you explored your backyard lately? There is a new place to play, fish, hike, bike, or site by a campfire on a star filled night.
The Cokeley Recreation Area is a recently established area within North Bend State Park. It is part of the North Fork of the Hughes River Watershed Project. This project was sponsored by the Little Kanawha Conservation District through the Resource Conservation Service.
Trails In Cokeley Recreation Area
Five miles of multi use, non motorized trails have been developed from the Cokeley Recreation Area. Trails have been developed which will take you from the Cokeley Recreation Area to the main part of the North Bend State Park and the North Bend Rail Trail.
Lake Access
A 305 acre permanent pool with 8.1 river miles and a 310 foot average width of permanent pool. A boat launch and a canoe launch available. Under 10 horsepower motor limit. Two accessible fishing platforms and great flatwater fishing. Ritchie County Fishing Club holds regular tournaments. Lake is stocked with bass, croupy, catfish, and musky, and the fish population and size will continue to grow over the next 2 to 3 years as with most new lakes. Boat rentals available on weekends from North Bend Outfitters at Cokeley Recreation Area, 304-299-1768.
Cokeley Campground
New 28 site campground at North Bend State Park opening - May 23, 2008. Hook ups includes water and electric, and each site has a picnic table, campfire ring, and lantern post. Three handicapped sites. Modern bathhouse with coin operated washers and dryers. All sites are first come first serve in 2008 and sites will be reservable in 2009 camping season. Landscaping is planned for the future. The campground will close the end of October for the season.
Lodging, cabins, and camping are all available at North Bend State Park. North Bend features a full service restaurant, meeting facilities, and gift shop with lots of hiking, biking, and special events offered. Bring the entire family!
