Tourism Businesses Participate in Printing Program

PARKERSBURG, WV – The number 13 is usually considered unlucky, however for 13 area tourism businesses it turned out to be very lucky.

The Greater Parkersburg Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Marietta/Washington County Convention & Visitors Bureau partnered with area tourism businesses and organizations to produce 160,000 rack cards showcasing regional attractions, events, shops, lodging locations and other points of interest.

Distributed to local and state venues, the new cards will serve as the first impression or reminder of unique places to see in the Mid-Ohio Valley .

Participating businesses include: Fenton Art Glass; Fort Boreman Historical Park ; The Gallery; Grand Pointe Conference & Reception Center ; Henderson Hall; Holiday Inn Express & Suites; Triple Nickel Motorcycle Supply; Mid-Ohio Valley Players Theatre; Merry-Etta Moonlight Savings Sale 2007; Ohio River Sternwheel Festival; Sweetapple Farm; Taste of Parkersburg; and the Veterans Museum of Mid-Ohio Valley.

The full-color cards were printed on glossy paper and measure 4”x 9” with each participant printing a minimum of one lot of 10,000 cards. By partnering together businesses saved an estimated 40-50 percent in printing costs.

Created in 2002 by the Greater Parkersburg CVB, the co-op printing program is in its fifth year and going strong with the additional support of the Marietta CVB.

“By partnering together local businesses were able to print useful tourism materials affordably, that will be used at trade shows, welcome centers and other key locations to promote the area,” Steve Nicely, Greater Parkersburg CVB president, said.

“This project is just one of several that both CVBs have worked together on over the years,” Kelly Dyar, Marietta/Washington County CVB executive director, said. “Each Bureau  clearly understands the value of being able to pass on savings to our members and supporters. Programs like this also help stock each office with additional marketing material – which is priceless.”

Nicely and Dyar said they anticipate offering the program again in this summer. To learn more about the program contact the Greater Parkersburg CVB at 304-428-1130 or visit www.greaterparkersburg.com.
