Parkersburg, West Virginia -- The Greater Parkersburg Convention and Visitors Bureau recently published 10,000 updated padded maps featuring regional points of interests, hotels and the nearly completed Corridor D project. The maps are in their second printing since first introduced by the CVB in 2005.
We realized soon after the first maps were printed that they were a success and in high demand, CVB President Steve Nicely explained. The Welcome Center, area attractions, and lodging properties were especially pleased with them.
The maps are used primarily by front-line tourism employees at hotels, shops, attractions and visitor centers, who interact with travelers visiting the area. The two-sided maps have been designed with a full area map on one side and downtown maps of Parkersburg and Marietta on the reverse side.
The updated maps now feature the new Rt. 50 Corridor D construction, up to the new bridge being built across the Ohio River and Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park to Belpre, Ohio.
Padded in sheets of 50, they are convenient for locations to tear off and hand to travelers.
These maps were created to better assist travelers as they navigate around the area, Nicely said. The maps also showcase local points of interest and lodging accommodations throughout the Mid-Ohio Valley.
There is no doubt in my mind that these maps have increased tourism. There are such interesting things to visit in Parkersburg and Marietta. These maps help us direct people directly to the doorstep of their destination, Donna Briggs, supervisor of the West Virginia Welcome Center in Williamstown, said.
Im thrilled with the new map! I think it will make giving directions to both leisure travelers and group tours much easier, Jena Blair, Fenton Art Glass group tour coordinator, said.
