ScaleTrains™, a manufacturer of HO, N, and S Scale model trains, will be visiting the Mid-Ohio Valley Model Railroad Club for a Meet & Greet on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at 6:40 p.m. The event will take place at the group’s club house (Address: 610 Green St. Parkersburg, WV 26101). The doors open at 6:40 p.m. and everyone is welcome to the event. This will be the model train maker’s only visit to the area during the Road Trip.
Founded in 1990, the Mid-Ohio Valley Model Railroad Club is dedicated to the promotion and enjoyment of model railroading in the Parkersburg region. The club’s primary focus is on HO and N scale layouts, featuring highly detailed landscapes modeled after local areas and host realistic operating sessions to simulate how real railroads run. The club is active in the community, hosting open houses and participating in regional model railroad conventions, thereby enriching the local culture and preserving the history of railroading.
The event is part of the model train maker’s “Road Trip”: a 50 State tour that allows ScaleTrains to visit with train enthusiasts across the United States. The Road Trip is the first of its kind in the model railroad hobby industry and is helping the company to connect with people in a personal way.
During a Meet & Greet, ScaleTrains displays their latest model trains and encourages attendees to pick them up for a closer look. The company typically spends about an hour sharing their story, along with presenting a video about how model trains are made, and a Q&A session where participants can ask questions. ScaleTrains will also have gift bags and giveaways, so no one leaves empty handed.
“In 2020, we began talking about how to reach people in areas of the country that do not have a national level or large regional train show,” said Shane Wilson, President of ScaleTrains.com. “Over time, the idea evolved into also exhibiting at regional train shows; attending special events at railroad museums; setting-up at full-scale railroad festivals; hosting train-watching days at railfan hotspots; and more. With that, the Road Trip was born,” said Wilson.
ScaleTrains was founded in 2014 and is headquartered in Cleveland, Tennessee. The company offers several brands of model trains including Museum Quality™, Rivet Counter™, Operator™, Fox Valley Models™, Kit Classics™, and S-Helper Service™. ScaleTrains also specializes in three sizes: HO, N, and S Scale. Its model railroad products currently include diesel locomotives, steam locomotives, freight cars, passenger cars, and more.
“We look forward to sharing our favorite hobby with the Mid-Ohio Valley Model Railroad Club. The group is all about sharing their love of trains and introducing new generations to the hobby. That’s what the Road Trip is all about. It will be great to meet with everyone there,” said Wilson. He continued: “This will be a fun event for all.”
